False apostille and how to not become …
A modern person has every minute counted, few of us are ready to spend our time on endless queues in state structures, therefore, you have to apply for apostillization services to various organizations that will do everything for you quickly and reliably.
Curiously enough, among the companies that act as intermediaries between you and Ministries and Embassies, there are fraudsters. Agree, it will be very sad to realize that you were deceived, being already in the "foreign lands." Proceeding from this the question arises - how to distinguish a false apostille from the genuine and protect yourself from unconscientious companies?
Genuine history about unauthentic apostille
No one is insured against fraudsters, and the history of our client is a proof:
The young man had to apply for the service of affixing apostille on the diploma in one of Kiev's translation bureaus. Having received the apostilled document, he decided to verify the fresh apostille for authenticity on the website of the Information-Image Center of MES and according to the results of check it turned out that the apostille was affixed to another document, and the translation bureau simply duplicated it for the client's diploma. Not understanding the intricacies of the paperwork, he understood that something suspicious was happening and applied to us for help.
It was just this situation that prompted us to write this article, in order to avoid such a risk in the future with you.
What should you know in order to protect yourselves from a false apostille
How looks like an apostille on educational document (Apostille of MES)?
When you receive your documents after the apostilization procedure, you will see the apostille of the following form (see on the right, click to zoom).
At the very bottom (the last sentence under the seal) the following is written: "Apostille verification": http://enic.in.ua/index.php/ua/aporegua. If the apostille is false - this is the first signal to start doubting its originality, this phrase is mandatory and is on all official apostilles of Ministry of Education.
How to verify an apostille authenticity?
To do this, go to the link http://enic.in.ua/index.php/ua/aporegua and enter the apostille number, application number and date of the apostille, the details on the picture below (letters must be typed in Latin – the English keyboard layout). After that, under the form there will be the section "Search Result" where the document, its series and number and the full name of the owner will be indicated.
What to do if an apostille turned out to be false?
In this case, the problem for you may be that most translation bureaus take prepayment (about 50%) when registering an order, it is a common practice. If you do not have the opportunity to come to the office of the company and communicate only by telephone/ email, and the documents you plan to receive by courier delivery service - the second 50% most likely you will need to pay before receiving the documents. This is the whole problem.
The advice in this case can be one - before sending, ask the manager of the Translation Bureau to send a full scan of the document. According to the scan, you can verify the authenticity and proper execution of your documents (we offer this option to your clients). If the apostille turned out to be false, you need to demand the return of documents and money.
How can I check the Translation Bureau in advance?
And lastly, when applying for the service of apostilling documents, it is worthwhile to collect information in advance, which will allow you to learn about the company maximum information and understand whether you can entrust it with the execution of your documents. How to choose the right translation bureau and on what you should pay attention first of all read on this page of our blog.
Unfortunately, a false apostille can be recognized only in the case of the apostille of Ministry of Education, but you can see the apostilles of other Ukrainian ministries and not only, on the page "Samples of Apostille stamp".
