Where can I get free university education abroad
Countries where universities offer free education include France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, Norway, Austria and the Slovak Republic. Some countries impose an obligation on persons obtaining free education to study in the language of that country.
For example, in Norway, higher Education is conducted in Norwegian and English. And in the Czech Republic it is exclusively in Czech. To obtain free education you must pass a special test to confirm your knowledge of the language of the country where you plan to study.
By the way, in Germany and France, if a student is studying at a state university, the fee is €100-500. This is the only of annual contributions. In Polish universities, you can become a student on a competitive basis. Moreover, foreigners of Polish origin are awarded a scholarship.
Those who plan to study in another country may be attracted to Greece. Foreigners in this country study free of charge. In addition, foreigners have free of charge:
- living in a hostel;
- provision with textbooks;
After receiving secondary education in your country, you can go to the Greek Republic and get higher education there. To do this, it is enough to participate in the competition by submitting the certificate points. And only after entering the university, the student begins to study Greek language taking special courses.
The conditions for free higher education in the Slovak Republic are interesting but the educational process is conducted entirely in the national language. Upon completion of study, the graduate is issued a European diploma, and it is valid in literally all countries. But in order to study in Slovakia for free, you need to learn the Slovak language in advance. With good academic performance, a student can expect to receive a scholarship.
How to get a grant (scholarship) to study for free in a foreign university
Each applicant or student can try their hand at participating in scholarship (grant) programs. If you use the terms of international university programs, you can get a scholarship and education for free.
In addition to universities, such scholarships are provided by international organizations. Sometimes, this opportunity comes from special government programs:
- the American version is the Fulbright program;
- the Swedish version is the Swedish Institute program;
- the German version is the DAAD program.
Many universities are developing the practice of providing internal scholarships. For example, a department or laboratory can provide research funding for those who are enrolled in postgraduate study for the purpose of obtaining a doctor of philosophy (PhD) degree. The postgraduate student will be attached to this department (laboratory) for the period of the research.
Private foundations also provide assistance. There are the famous ones as Viktor Pinchuk Foundation, Soros Foundation. There are domestic universities that offer to participate in partner programs when a student studies at a foreign university for one year.
It is possible to obtain a double diploma. For example, NTUU "KPI" is known for its close cooperation with the university of vocational education NOVI operating in Utrecht (the Netherlands). There is also established cooperation with the University of Indianapolis in Athens and other foreign universities.
In some European universities, it is common practice to encourage students with scholarship awards if young people:
- are representing the university in sports;
- professionally engaged in sports;
- work in the university cafe;
- work in the library of the educational institution.
The money received help to partially cover tuition. But only a student of this university can get a scholarship for doing work at the university campus.
